Don't Just Visit the World of the Bible

Escape the Ordinary Tour
Bruce Porter and Porter Tours

March 2 - March 14, 2018

When it comes to gaining gospel knowledge, it is best to have your spiritual feast along with a  temporal one. History is not scripture but all scripture comes from history.  See and experience the setting, the background, the culture, the religions and languages that make up the historicity of scripture.

Discover the home of the Bible and visit the sites of both the Old and New Testaments, focusing on the Life of Christ.  Every hill, every stone has a story to tell and a testimony to bare of the divinity of Scripture.  You will never read the scriptures the same as your mind and memory will take you to Israel and our journeys again and again.

To ask: Why go to Egypt? is like asking: Why breathe?

The Book of Abraham, inspired from Egyptian papyri, contains three "Facsimiles" that come directly from Egypt and represent the very foundation of the Egyptian religion and its relationship to the ordinances of Exaltation found in our modern Temples today.  You'll never regret visiting Egypt's temple sites and learning about the Gospel connection to Ancient Egypt.

This fantastic tour includes Cairo and the Pyramids, and the outdoor museum of Luxor. We will visit The Valley of the Kings,  the Karnak and Luxor Temples.  Three prophets lived in Egypt; Abraham, Joseph and Moses, and each left a record of scripture.  All who are from the tribe of Joseph have a history here as the mother of Ephraim and Manasseh was the daughter of the High Priest of the ancient religious center of On.

Every Stone has a Story to Tell.

In Israel, this tour will include all of the important sites such as Jerusalem, the Garden Tomb, Mount of Olives, the Old City, Gethsemane, and the Upper Room.  We will visit the Galilee and see the Mount of Beatitudes, Capernaum, the home of Christ, Nazareth, and Cana. While in the Galilee we will have a boat ride on the Sea and visit a traditional Baptismal site and discuss the meaning of this most important ordinance.  We will visit Bethlehem, and the shepherd's fields and have a private meeting with William Kando, whose father acquired the Dead Sea Scrolls when they were discovered in 1947.

In the Old City of Jerusalem, we will stand on the Southern Steps of the Temple Mount that Christ and His apostles would walk when entering the Temple area.  We will also stand on the road of the Triumphal Entry that helps provoke the Jewish conspiracy against the Savior.  We will see the main Gate in Hezekiah's Broad Wall that Laban and his Fifty protected when Nephi and his brother acquired the Brass Plates. We will visit the original Pools of Bethesda and the original stones of the "pavement" where the judgment of Crucifixion was issued by Pilot. It is easy to explain where we will go but the feelings, scriptural insights, and spiritual experiences cannot be described sufficiently for the written word.

The Crossroad of World History.

Arriving in Istanbul we will visit the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia one of the oldest standing Christian Churches in the world.  We will have an opportunity to visit the underground Basilica Cistern where parts of the Dan Brown movie 'The Inferno' was filmed.  On banks of the Bosphorus Straits, we will visit the ancient Spice Market that connected Europe with Asia and the Far East.

Leaving Istanbul we will fly into Izmir the ancient site of Smyrna spending the night in Kusadasi. While here we will visit the ancient city of Ephesus one of the Seven Churches of Asia mentioned in the Book of Revelation. The great city of Ephesus is where John the Beloved and Paul the Apostles lived and taught for years. We will take the time to go through the ruins of ancient Ephesus, and the ruins of the ancient Basilica of St. John one of the oldest Christian Churches.

Good money is paid to go on a tour, and you should get the best value from every dollar spent. You not only want to see, but experience the sights, sounds, and spirit at each destination. With Porter Tours, the host and guide Bruce Porter will provide an education with scriptural insights that will be worth tour alone. Porter Tours seeks to provide a tour that will be fun and educational to help each person to see behind the scenes, under the stones and beyond the hills of what you are able to see with your eyes only.

The more your guide and host knows and understands about the destination and the more often he’s been there, the better the experience you can expect.  Experience each site with Bruce Porter who has been there so many times that he can show you all the nooks and crannies that others might miss.  You will be able to learn of the myth and symbol behind the pyramids and tombs. You’ll want someone who actually can read the hieroglyphics on the colonnades and walls and can interpret them for you. One who knows intimately the secular and religious history of Egypt, Israel and the cultures of the Bible Lands. Somebody whose passion for scripture and the history and culture of Egypt and Israel knows no bounds.
